A WORLD HERITAGE - THE OLDEST AND LARGEST IMPACT CRATER ON GAUTENG'S DOORSTEP

DID YOU KNOW?

ASTEROIDS THE BIGGEST THREAT TO LIFE - World renowned physicist Stephen Hawking believes that one of the major factors in the possible scarcity of intelligent life in our galaxy is the high probability of an asteroid or comet colliding with inhabited planets. But NASA says it doesn't have the money to track all the dangerous asteroids that could hit Earth. FOLLOW NEWS OF THESE SPACE INVADERS ...

VISITORS

The Dome is the site of the largest energy release that we know of on Earth - amounting to millions of nuclear bombs - when an asteroid hit here 2 billion years ago. Bring family and friends to see for themselves what all the excitement is about. The "Vredefort Dome" is not at Vredefort - it's whole the whole gigantic granite core of the crater stretching from horizon to horizon. The story of the impact is a dramatic one, and our video presentation, talk and field outings will blow you away. Contact us

SCHOOLS

World Heritage Sites form part of the school curriculum. Geography and physics teachers and others with an interest in our scientific, cultural and historical heritage can arrange group tours from 10 to 250.

Arrange a tour to suit the age and interests of learners & teachers.
